Vietnamese agreement with Danish Farm Concept signed

Vietnamese pig production took a step into hi tech production methods with the new partnership between Danish Farm Concept and Rural Technology Development JSC signed on 26 February 2016.

Danish Farm Concept is a company and brand name representing the entire Danish model for pig production including: Modern pig farm design; efficient pig farm technology; Danish genetics; nutrition program; sustainable solution; and education, training and management.

The cooperation between the two companies is expected to boost pig production in Vietnam, hence contribute to the government’s target of 35 million pigs in 2020 and to enhance Vietnam’s competitiveness in the global economy.

The agreement is a result of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the visit of the Danish Minister for Environment and Food last November.

Back then Vietnam’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat expressed that the country wished to receive Denmark’s help in improving food safety and hygiene in animal husbandry, according to Vietnamplus.vn.

Phat affirmed that Vietnam wants to import good breeds of pig from Denmark and learn from the country’s advanced technology relating to animal husbandry.

He suggested Denmark create conditions for Vietnamese officials to visit to the country to study its management experience as well as technologies and policies to develop sea aquaculture.

Danish Minister of Environment and Food Eva Kjer Hansen, in turn, asked for Vietnam’s consideration of allowing Denmark to export beef to the country.

Denmark has to date provided assistance for several important programmes involved in agriculture and rural development in Vietnam, including the programme to develop agriculture and rural areas during 2007-2012, the other one to support aquaculture in the 2005-2012 period, and the 2011-2015 water supply and rural sanitation programme.

The Danish Farm Concept is marketed throughout the world. The companies Hamlet Protein, SKOV, Dalum Agricultural Business Academy, Danbred International, Danish Farm Design and Vissing Agro market their products under this brand in wholesale solutions for the pig industry.
